Skilled Workers Ironworker (NOC Code 7264)

Ironworkers fabricate, erect, hoist, install, repair and service structural ironwork, pre-cast concrete, concrete reinforcing materials, curtain walls, ornamental iron and other metals used in the construction of buildings, bridges, highways, dams and other structures and equipment. They are employed by construction ironwork contractors.

Requirements

Completed at least 6750 hours (54 months) of hand on work experiences

Acquired Skills

  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to arrange the work
  • Prepare steel units by unloading and stacking them as needed
  • Straighten and install hoisting equipments such as scaffolding and construction cranes
  • Move heavy equipment and materials by assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks)
  • Check the alignments and bolting or welding steel parts together with an electric arc process
  • reinforce the concrete by select, cut, bend, position, and secure steel bars or wire mesh in concrete forms
  • Knowing how to unload and install pre-cast components
  • install ornamental and other structural metalwork
