Skilled Workers Auto Body Technician/ Auto Body Repairer (NOC Code 7322)

Motor vehicle body repairers repair and restore damaged motor vehicle body parts and interior finishing. They are employed by automobile dealers, automobile body repair companies and automobile appraisal centres. This unit group also includes metal repairers who repair defective automobile body parts and damage to the bodies of newly assembled cars. They are employed by motor vehicle manufacturers.

Completed at least 6900 hours (54 months) of hand on work experiences

Acquired Skills

  • Do damage appraisals, frame and unibody structural repairs, body sheet-metal work, plastic repairs, component replacement and alignment
  • Interpret precise factory specification charts and use sophisticated measuring
  • Responsible for restoring the structural integrity of the damaged vehicle during the repair process
  • Capable of cutting away damaged components and welding in new or recycled replacements
  • Restore the vehicle to its pre-damaged condition Ensure that suspension and steering components are accurately aligned.
  • Remove and install bolt-on components such as hoods, deck lids, fenders, trim, doors, and glass and interior components
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, system functions, passenger protection and finally, test-drive the vehicle to ensure proper alignment and handling after repairing
