Skilled Workers Welder (NOC Code 7265)

Welders operate welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This unit group includes machine operators who operate previously set up production welding, brazing and soldering equipment. They are employed by companies that manufacture structural steel and platework, boilers, heavy machinery, aircraft and ships and other metal products, and by welding contractors and welding shops.

Requirements

Completed at least 7020 hours (54 months) of hands-on work experience

Acquired Skills:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Electric arc welding and Gas welding;
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
  • Clean and check for defects and shape component parts;
  • Develop patterns for projects
