Skilled Workers Electrician (NOC Code 7242)

Industrial electricians install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls. They are employed by electrical contractors and maintenance departments of factories, plants, mines, shipyards and other industrial establishments.

Requirements

Completed at least 8775 hours (72 months) of hand on work experiences

Acquired Skills

  • Interpret electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings
  • Understand electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts
  • Knowing how to cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings
  • Capable of positioning, maintaining and installing distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures
  • Be able to install, replace, maintain and repair electrical systems and related electrical equipment
  • Capable of install data cabling
  • Knowing how to test circuits to ensure their integrity and safety
  • Capable of installing and maintaining fibre optic systems
